Silvan Shalom
Silvan Shalom is Minister of Interior and Vice Prime Minister of Israel and Chief Israeli Negotiator. Beginning his career as a journalist, in 1985 he was appointed adviser to the Finance minister and, in 1990, Director-general of the Israel Electric Company. He has been a Member of the Knesset since 1992. Following the 1996 election he became Deputy Defence Minister. Since then, he held several ministerial posts, serving as Minister of Science and Technology (1998-1999), Minister of Finance (2001-2003), Deputy Prime Minister (2001-2006, 2009-2013), Minister of Foreign Affairs (2003-2006), Minister for Regional development (2009-2015), Minister for the Development of the Negev and the Galilee (2009-2015), Minister of National infrastructures, Energy and Water resources (2013-2015). In 2015 he was appointed Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
