Pier Ferdinando Casini

Pier Ferdinando Casini is currently the Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Emigration. He is also Professor of Geopolitics of the Mediterranean at Lumsa University. Born in Bologna on 3 December 1955, he graduated in Law in 1978. From 1994 to 2001, he was Member of the European Parliament, in the European People’s Party Group. From May 2001 to May 2006, he was Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies. From 2005 to 2008, he was President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, based in Geneva and he is currently Honorary President of the same organisation. Since 2006 to 2015, he was President of the Centrist Democrat International (CDI) and he is currently Honorary President of the same organisation. He has received official awards by a number of countries.
