Abdelkader Messahel
Abdelkader Messahel is Algeria’s Minister of Maghreb Affairs, African Union and League of Arab states. He started his career as Head of the section “Liberation Movements” at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria in 1971. He was ambassador of Algeria in Burkina-Faso and the Netherlands. He served as Delegate in several sessions of the General Assembly of the United Nation for the African questions. During the presidency of Algeria in the African League, Messahel was Special Envoy for the peace process in Congo and the Great Lakes region. In 2000 he served for the Minister of Foreign Affairs, charged with African Affairs. In 2012 he was Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs, charged with African and Maghreb Affairs. In the following years, he became Minister of Communication. Currently, he is Algeria’s Minister of Maghreb Affairs, African Union and League of Arab states.
