Community-Oriented Economy: A Drive to Inclusiveness and Job Creation in the Mediterranean Partner Countries?

The implementation of economic projects which are inspired by a community-oriented approach (COE) in the Mediterranean area can play an important role in fostering sustainable development in this region. Access to credit is one of the main obstacles to developing vast areas of the Mediterranean, specially the rural areas and those on the southern shores. This means taking a more inclusive economic approach while implementing shared projects, based on the principles of proximity, inclusiveness, sustainability, regional development and community participation. According to FEMISE, a network of banks can be created in order to provide financing to small projects, in particular for women and young people.
